Renewal was the album that saw German thrash metal kings Kreator attempt to broaden their sound, relinquishing much of their legendary velocity in order to enter previously undreamed of industrial realms.

Long-time Kreator fans will know that change is in the air simply by hearing Ventor's drums as they introduce opener "Winter Martyrium" with a very dry, somewhat hollow, and wholly unfamiliar snare sound. The guitars, when they kick in, also come across slightly Zero To None - Kreator - Renewal , lacking the distinctive thrash metal bite characteristic of previous albums, while Mille Petrozza's vocals are pushed higher in the mix than usual, having magically reverse-mutated from his trademark shriek to a clearer, though arguably less effective shouted style.

Dont Do It - Ambilique* - Dont Do It they can get over these unexpected developments, which are all the more shocking coming from a band that had hardly progressed an iota since its inception to the undisguised delight of many hardcore fanslisteners will find a decent set of songs in the likes of "Brainseed," "Karmic Wheel" and "Europe After the Rain.

  1. Renewal of your mind Female's poison, male aggression Distance to reality Foreign places, fallen kingdoms Always keep secrets from me Subliminal, disciplinal The art of lying lives on and on As we struggle, as we suffer Inferior to life renewal has begun Never to be seen again Ever to release the pain Renewal of our minds Renewal of my mind.

  5. "Renewal" has nothing that makes the difference, it's a pretty decent album whose last tracks fall short of expectations. "Zero to None", for example, lacks of everything: no melody, no catchiness, no surprising breaks and so on. "Europe After the Rain" is slightly better, but all breaks down as its crude middle section begins.
  6. Lyrics to 'Zero To None' by Kreator. Dominance in devotion Grabs us and disappears Have to take some direction Through the glass that we must break.
